ETB (Ethiopian birr)

For a payment to a bank in Ethiopia, you need to provide a Bank Identification Code (BIC). This is also known as a SWIFT address (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication).

• Ethiopia does not have an IBAN, but a local account number structure (BBAN – Basic Bank Account Number).
• Do not use spaces, dashes, comma, or slash (/) in the account number. 
• Enter the full name of the person receiving the money in the “Recipient Name” field.
  Do not use abbreviations.

These international transfers are subject to private transfer fees and business transfer fees. If you choose for the OUR option, the beneficiary will not be charged anything by their bank. ABN AMRO charges an OUR fee (PDF, 156 KB) for this.

Please note: the cost option “the recipient will pay all costs (BEN)” is not possible for payments in the local currency (ETB)
